Full day River Rafting Itinerary for the Vaal river
The Vaal River is the closest most commercially run river in Gauteng, situated in the biggest and oldest meteorite impact site in the world. It is a mere hour and a half drive from Johannesburg and a fun breakaway for first time rafters and pure family fun. The river has Grade 1 and 2 rapids depending on water level. We paddle down about 11km of the river with great birding and the river meanders through little islands where we sometimes see otters.
09:00 We meet at pre-arranged location, depending on size of group, etc.
Gear up in safety gear and get transported to put-in point. After a thorough safety-briefing we start our way downriver.
13:00 Break for a delicious lunch on the banks of the river
14:00 After lunch we paddle the remaining stretch of the river and depending on the water level finish any time from 15:00 to
16:00. Enjoy a cold one before heading home.
WE SUPPLY:
- Life jackets, helmets, rafts and equipment.
- Dry container to keep cameras in or anything you want to keep dry.
- Internal transport.
- Highly qualified and professional guides with 10 years and more experience and safety kayakers.
- Lunch and drinks on the river.
YOU BRING:
- You wear clothes that can get wet, I e t-shirt, boardshorts, swimwear etc. Leave your jeans at home!
- Dry clothes for after your white-water raft trip.
- Suntan lotion
- Camera
- Straps for your sunglasses or prescription glasses.
- Takkies or strops / No slip-ones.
- Your own energy drinks, i.e Powerade, Energade etc.
- Your own drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) if you want to relax a bit after the trip
Cost:
The cost for the full day is R520,00 per person and includes lunch and drinks on the river.
R20 per person surcharge for any special meal requirements, i.e. Halaal, Vegetarian, etc
Kosher meals – price on request.
Payment
* A 50% deposit confirms your booking.
* Balance payable 7 days prior to excursion.
* Once you’re ready to pay, we’ll provide you with a reference number and the banking details.
Cancellation policy :
* No show on day of trip – no refund
* 3 Weeks or longer before the trip – full refund of deposit
* 1 – 2 weeks before the trip - 50% of deposit refundable
* Less than a week before the trip – no refund
