OLIFANTS RIVERAFTING
Location:The Olifants River Rafting trip begins at Mabinz
Village, end at Manoutsa (near Strijdom Tunnel) Duration: 5-6
hours (typically 9am to 3pm) Length: 11km Difficulty: Class
2-3 Type: Pool and drop. Higher volume, low gradient. During
floods, some rapids become Class 4 but they can be walked by the
less adventurous paddler. A very pleasant day trip with magnificent
mountain scenery. A picnic lunch is served on the river bank.

OLIFANT GORGE TWO/THREE
DAY TRIPS
Location: Starts at
Kromellenboog (2-day) or Penge (3-day trip), ends at Manoutsa, same
as Olifants day trip.Duration: Two day (one night camping) or three
days (2 nights camping). Length: 40 to 65 km. Difficulty: Class
2-3. Type: Pool-drop, higher volume, low gradient.
This is an adventurous African river expedition through remote
mountain wilderness. This little known section of the Olifants
River passes through state land that is earmarked for development as
a future national park. Explore Kloofs and gorges in the
afternoons. Good birding and great tree spotting. All meals and
drinks provided on the Olifants River Rafting trip. We pitch camp on a secluded beach and sleep under
the stars. A tarpaulin is pitched if it rains. Participants on
this trip should bring their own sleeping bags.
